So I have been complaining a lot about how much gas has gone up, especially driving my beloved truck. Back in 2004 when I bought it, I was paying less than $50 to fill it up. Now it takes $100. My tank holds 24 gallons and I get about 340 miles per tank. My wife’s car used to take $25-30 to fill, now taking $55. Ridiculous I know. But the other day Bets challenged me on my driving.

I know that I drive offensively and I have heard her say that for years. But the other day I read an article and so did she, about how much gas is wasted when a person drives fast, stops, starts, peels away from a stop light and just generally drives “offensively” So I took her challenge because we have been driving her car for days and I really miss driving my truck. The challenge was to drive like a “normal” person. (Which will also help her not “fear for her life” as she puts it) So I filled up my tank the other day and now am driving “normal” which to me feels like I am driving like a 90 year old.

I am EXCITED to report that I have used a quarter tank as of today and I already have clocked 140 miles. To do the math, that means that in theory if I drive “normal”, I will get approximately 560 miles out of one tank as opposed to the 340 miles I was getting!

Sweet!

Updates to follow, as I learn this foreign driving style ;)

First I did a show in Dallas with Battlecry (TeenMania) which as usual was awesome. I do video on a television truck for this event and it’s always a blast! When I got home I stayed in town for 2-3 days and then I was off again to Maui for the Increase event. Again a great time with friends Tracy, Dave, Joe, Ben and Marcy, Harvey, Don and Jodee, Denise and the kids. On our few times we had off, we went to the beach, played golf and on the final day I went scuba diving and snorkeling. For the first time in my life I got to swim with sea turtles in the wild. It was the most awesome experience. Once you put your face under the sea it becomes a whole new world of color, fish, coral, such beauty not seen above.

After all the travel and fun, I’m so glad to finally be home with my wife, my puppies and my friends.
